The UK Trauma Council Website was commissioned by the Anna Freud Foundation. UKTC creates evidence-based resources to improve professionals’ and carers’ understanding of the nature and impact of trauma. In collaboration with Fran Cook (UI Design) and hertech (Web Development), we worked alongside the incredible team at Anna Freud to design and build their website from start to finish.

I led the UX and facilitated a design sprint with key stakeholders, rationalising concerns around structure to form a clear strategy of how to fulfil the council’s ambitions for the project. The biggest challenge was to form clear user journeys that showcased complex bodies of research in digestible themes, with a varied user base in mind. Though it needed to be presented simply for newcomers, we also had to accommodate professionals searching for new methodologies that could apply to their work.

I used the ideas generated collaboratively to create wireframes, which we tested with potential users. The user tests were face-to-face moderated tests conducted with policymakers, teachers, and social workers. After processing the feedback, we iterated our designs and continued on to produce the final UI for the website, which was done by Francesca Cook.
